Ron McBride

February 17, 1962 - January 9, 2024

In loving memory ~

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our son, father, brother, uncle and friend, Ron McBride, on the 9th of January 2024 in Sooke, BC. Ron was diagnosed with ALS in April 2023.

Ron is survived by his daughter, Cassidy McBride, his Dad and Mom (Jack and Marion), brother Randy (Suzanna), nieces Shawna Lee McBride and Laura McBride, his Uncle George McBride and Aunt Shirley Tryon, cousins and many good friends.

Ron was born in Calgary, Alberta on February 17, 1962. He lived in several provinces due to his Dad's military career. Ron was very proud of the fact that he could say that he was never without a job throughout his life.

Ron attended Edward Milne High School in Sooke BC. It was here he met many of his very good friends, some of who cared for him in his time of need as ALS rapidly progressed. Their care was above and beyond what friends can offer, as they provided a quality of life for Ron. He appreciated their friendships dearly.

We would like to thank the ALS Society of BC for all their support. We are also so grateful to the Victoria Island Health Authority home support workers who also provided daily care, some of whom became very attached to Ron, proof of how he affected those around him and a testament to his personality. Everyone loved him for his friendly nature, humour and wit.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Ron on the 17th of February 2024 from 2:30 PM-5:30 PM at the Sooke Legion, 6726 Eustace Road, Sooke BC.

Donations can be made to the ALS Society of BC in memory of Ron.
