LETTER: Photo gets a thumbs down

I was extremely disappointed to see that you had to jump on the bandwagon and sensationalize the police officer that gave a thumbs up during the protest downtown.

I hope the person that took the photo is pleased that as a result, the police chief, who has better things to do, had to weigh in. A political science prof thought it was necessary to add an enlightened viewpoint and the officer had to be spoken to. From the angle of the picture, it appears it was not the people on the protesters’ side but someone unhappy with the “rabble,” and heaven forbid that the police agree with them.

Thank goodness the family that made the comments spoke up, but not before all the sensational outrage over a perceived faux pas.
