Residents of Shirley were recently informed a large bear has a den on the Flea Beach property, yards from where people picnic, walk dogs, kayak, fish and enjoy the ocean.
A bear. The time has come to remove unwanted and dangerous trees, repair the road and add some benches. It’s time to change the property from a hazard to a people place. Flea Beach should be managed for the pleasure and safety of all.
The Sheringham Point Lighthouse Preservation Society has “stewardship” of this property. If they do not wish to properly manage this land then they should delegate the job to those who will.
