Braves take 2-1 lead into Kerry Park on Monday

Braves scored three powerplay goals on Saturday to win 5-1

The Saanich Braves take their 2-1 series lead over the Kerry Park Islanders into Mill Bay on Monday for Game 4.

It’s a make-up game for the snowed-out match in Mill Bay last week, which would have been the second of the teams’ VIJHL first-round playoff series.

Kerry Park’s Braydon Nelson potted the overtime winner at Pearkes on Friday, 3-2, to tie the series at 1-1. The Braves responded in Mill Bay on Saturday with a 5-1 win. The Braves were able to capitalize with three powerplay goals on Saturday as the Islanders took 41 penalty minutes to the Braves’ 14 (not including misconducts).

Elsewhere in the VIJHL the Westshore Wolves have tied the series with the Victoria Cougars 2-1 after being down 2-0 in the series. They play Wednesday at the Q Centre. The eighth seed Peninsula Panthers stole a 3-2 win from the first seed Campbell River Storm. The Storm lead that series 2-1 with Game 4 at Panorama Monday night. The Nanaimo Buccaneers are up 3-0 over the Oceanside Generals with Game 4 going Monday night at Oceanside Place.
