The Sooke Home Hardware peewee Seahawks welcomed Joshua Tipton back in a battle with the league-leading Cowichan Bulldogs this past weekend. Sooke held the Bulldogs to eight points in the second half but lost 28-0.
Braedon Gouk, Torin Keoughan and Quinn Plant got a few big hits and William McBride recovered a fumble.
The peewee’s will host Gordon Head this Sunday at Eagle Ridge for their last game before the playoffs.
The Village Foods pre-atom Sooke Seahawks had a nail-biter versus the Victoria Vikings Sunday at Eagle Ridge. Down early by a major, Sooke ran and tossed its way to a 35-yard run by MVP Simon Herold with one of his two TDs. The Sooke defence then took over with defensive player of the game, Quinn Macdonald causing a fumble with Ian MacDonald recovering. Sooke rebounded from another Vikings TD with a deer-like scoring run by Kieran Franklin. Another Vikings TD was followed by Simon Herold’s second major – a 45-yard zig-zagging run that puzzled the Vikings’ defence. Final score – 20-18 for Victoria.
The pre-atoms begin their playoff run this Sunday, June 5, noon at EMCS.
