The Sooke U19 girls fastball team placed gold at the provincial fastball championships last weekend in Sicamous.
The team went undefeated in all eight games, and mercied Chilliwack 10-3 in the last game. 17 teams competed in the tournament.
Heading in to provincials, the team was focusing on batting, because it struggled with it in district play.
“Their batting absolutely came to life,” said coach Len Sudlow. “It was a great team effort, our defence and pitching was strong, and we were able to come out on top.”
Sudlow has been coaching the same core group of girls for multiple years.
“The best part about coaching is just seeing the love of the game, and how well the girls come together as a team to achieve success,” said Sudlow.
